JONAS STARK

Jonas Stark

Jonas Stark has performed extensively throughout Germany as well as in France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Poland, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Bangladesh, China, the Philippines and Australia.

As a concerto soloist, he has appeared with the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, Duisburg Philharmonic, German Radio Philharmonic, Haydn Philharmonic, Heidelberg Philharmonic, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Northern German Philharmonic and Vienna Symphony, working with conductors including Marin Alsop, Marcus Bosch, Martin Fratz, Dietger Holm, Axel Kober, Oksana Lyniv, Petr Popelka and Kahchun Wong.

His competition successes include First Prize at the Hong Kong International Piano Competition in 2022, Second Prize at the International Beethoven Competition Vienna in 2025, Third Prize and the Special Prize for a Contemporary Work at the International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn in 2025, and Third Prize at the International Schubert Competition Dortmund in 2021. He also received special prizes at the ARD International Music Competition Munich in 2022 and the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb in Leipzig in 2025.

Stark has twice received his state’s special award for outstanding solo performance and became a Young Steinway Artist in 2021.

He began piano lessons with Jelena Semenenko at the age of five. After completing his Bachelor of Music at the HfM Saar with Professor Thomas Duis in 2018, he continued his studies with Professor Ian Fountain at the Royal Academy of Music in London, completing both a Master’s degree and Professional Diploma. In 2025, he completed his Konzertexamen with Professor Roland Krüger at the HMTM Hanover, where he has also held a teaching position in piano since 2023.

He has participated in masterclasses with distinguished musicians including Dmitri Alexeev, Dmitri Bashkirov, Adrian Brendel, Imogen Cooper, Pascal Devoyon, Christopher Elton, Konrad Elser, Janina Fialkowska, Peter Frankl, Bernd Goetzke, Grigory Gruzman, Martin Helmchen, Leslie Howard, Paul Lewis, Geoffrey Madge, Anna Malikova, Robert McDonald, Midori, Kent Nagano, Steven Osborne, John Perry, Roberto Prosseda, Konstantin Scherbakov, Arie Vardi and Jörg Widmann.

Jonas Stark has received support from the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, German Academic Exchange Service, Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, German Academic Scholarship Foundation, Hans und Ruth Giessen Foundation, Imogen Cooper Music Trust, Jürgen Ponto Foundation, Konzertförderung Deutscher Musikrat and Richard Wagner Society.
