Participation in Round I – Quarterfinals of the competition, will be achieved by each of the contestants sending us a recording of their up to 70 minutes performances of a programme which each one of them will have selected (as directed) from a given list accompanying the application form and marked as: QUARTER-FINALS.
See repertoire to choose from in ANNEX 2.
1st ROUND (Quarterfinals) video recordings to be received by our Office by the 20th July 2022.
Please, send your video recordings digitally, NOT BY POST (this can take a long time to arrive nowadays).
We would like to make the following clarifications given the many inquiries we are receiving from quarter-finalists as they are preparing their video recordings to participate in Round I: You can send previous recordings you might have of your performance of some of the pieces you are presenting to participate in Round I. Each piece should have been recorded as if you were presenting it in a recital.
What we mean is that Editing is not accepted. The different pieces could, however, have been recorded at different times.
You can repeat some of the pieces you sent us for the Preliminary Round, provided the pieces are listed in ANNEX 2.
And YES, when preparing the programme to be played in the recital you will be invited to give if selected as a semi-finalist, you will be able to play some of the pieces you already presented to participate in the preliminary and first rounds.
Please, clearly mark the name of each piece and the timing of commencement in the video recording as well as its movements. This facilitates the work of our IT engineer who will be preparing the files that will be sent to each one of the 10 members of the Jury who will be selecting the 15 semi-finalists.
Once we receive the video recordings from the 36 quarter-finalists which, we repeat, should be received by our Office by the 20th of July 2022, our IT engineer will then upload all the recordings onto a “cloud” and a password will be given to each of the 10 members of the Jury for them to listen to all the recordings at their own pace.
The Members of the Jury will be given a date by which each one of them has to return to us a list of his/her choice of 15 contestants to go on to Round II (semi-finals) of the Competition.
The Chairman and the Executive Secretary of the Society, administrative, non-voting members of the Panel of the Jury, will be in charge of processing the results of the voting of the members of the Jury.
Nobody else, apart from the Chairman and the Executive Secretary of the Society, will know the voting results received from each individual member of the Jury.
20th August 2022 – Expected date to announce the 15 Contestants (Semi-finalists) who will be participating in Round II – Semi-finals of the Competition.
The 15 Semi finalists of the 6th Hong Kong International Piano Competition will be publicly announced in the official Website of our Competition: www.chopinsocietyhk.org as soon as possible after the 20th Aug 2022, and after having contacted the Contestants and the Members of the Jury individually to let them know of the results of Round I – Quarterfinals. |
