Chan Chun, Michael was born in Hong Kong. He completed his musical training with Mr. Eddie Zong in the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Prof. Benedikt Hübner in the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden, Germany. Chan was selected to join the Asian Youth Orchestra as principal double bassist to tour around Asia, before later gaining his first European musical experiences with the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands and Pablo Casals Chamber Festival in France. After graduation, he played professionally as a tutti member of the Magdeburgische Philharmonie and Dresdner Residenz Orchester, as well as substitute of the Dresdner Philharmonie and guest player of numerous professional orchestras in Germany. Chan has been a freelance player of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta since 2010.
