Principal Viola of Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Elvis Chan graduated from Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, on full scholarship, where he obtained two Master’s degrees in Viola Performance and Chamber Music. As a chamber musician and a soloist, Chan has performed at such prestigious venue as the Kennedy Center, Washington DC and has collaborated with many eminent musicians including Andrew Jennings, Todd Philips, Erling Bengtsson, Cathy Cho, Yizhak Schotten, Anthony Elliot, Aaron Berofsky, Lynne Aspnes, Arie Lipsky, St Petersburg String Quartet and the Chester String Quartet. He has also participated in several summer festivals including the Spoleto, the Carinthian Summer Music Festival, the Springfest and Ann Arbor Chamber Music Festivals.
